We gathered outside the Bendigo Library to symbolise the imprisonment of asylum seekers. Several people took turns sitting in the Cage while others spoke to passers-by. It’s hoped the Cage will re-appear in other places in Bendigo.
The Walking Vigil happened! About 80 people walked from Bendigo Marketplace down to the Fountain – a beautiful sight. Thanks to all others who assisted, and to Bendigo RAR for extended their public liability to the event at the 11th hour.
Our first gathering was a great affair, with about 80 people turning after the Candlelight Vigil. We discussed our passions, and brainstormed ideas for public actions.
